Purple Coneflower, Echinacea purpurera, is one of the most popular Texas native perennials for summer color. Multiple hybrids have been bred to enhance the color, performance, habit, and overall look of the plant. ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ is one of the boldest flower varieties mixing vibrant reds, pinks, oranges, and yellows. The genus Echinacea stems from the Greek word echinos, meaning hedgehog in reference to its prominent stiff bristly cone center.
