Width: 15″
Exposure: Full Sun, Part Shade
Performance: Perennial

Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Goldsturm’ is a late summer to early fall perennial offering golden daisy-like flowers with an intense blackish-brown eye. This vigorous perennial is a true performer in the landscape with green serrated foliage forming a thick, dense mound. This Texas native hybrid engilds a soft golden color and adds a bold coarse texture to the summer landscape.
The genus Rudbeckia is in honor of Olof Rudbeck the Elder and his son Olof Rudbeck the Younger, both of which were famous Swedish botanists and professors in the 17th and 18th centuries. Olof Rudbeck the Elder established Rudbeck’s Garden, the first botanical garden in Sweden. While his son, Olof Rudbeck the Younger was a professor of the famous botanist Carolus Linnaeus, the man who created the nomenclature method we still use today. The species fulgida is Latin for shiny or glistening. ‘Goldsturm’ is German for Gold Storm and was bred out of the Texas native Rudbeckia fulgida by a German breeder.
This hybrid doesn’t disappoint, its performance has been honored with the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society and was also named the Perennial Plant of the Year in 1999 by the Perennial Plant Association.
